To whom it may concern.
I purchased two BTE hearing aids from Century Hearing Aids. These aids were programmed to meet my needs. I paid way less than half of what the local audiologist were demanding. These aids have performed extremely well. I am 5 Stars happy with these aids. I would not hesitate to recommend Century Hearing Aids to anyone. I would use them again anytime myself. The experience has been completely satisfactory.

I am very happy with them. My wife is too. These are so much better than the ones I have from Hearing Aid Express. They were just amplifiers. Too much background noise. I am retired. On a fixed income. On a budget and I am very happy with these.

My Hearing Aid Saga

Background
Over the past 18 months I have become aware that my hearing is not 100%. My wife, who is very hard of hearing and wears 2 'top of the line' hearing aids has been telling me that I needed to go and see her audiologist at Clinic A to have my hearing tested and get advice for a hearing aid. My children and grandchildren also complained that I did not always hear everything that was going on.
I thus decided that I needed to do something about it. I had in mind that I wanted to try one hearing aid in my perceived deaf ear to see what improvement that would make and what other issues were associated with the wearing of a hearing aid.
Phase 1 - Frustration
At about this time I received a letter addressed to me personally from Clinic A informing me that they were going to have a 'Special Event' at which their hearing aids would be available for demonstration. Also they were offering a free hearing test, a free Otoscopic Visual Assessment and a free discount Medicare Rx card. As well as all that they had been authorized by some manufacturers to offer up to 50% off the price of their hearing aids.
So I called Clinic A and made an appointment to visit them at their 'Special Event'. I arrived on time and after a 10 minute wait I was shown into a small office where an audiologist carried out a visual ear inspection and a hearing test. As a result he told me that I had some hearing loss in both ears. He then equipped me with a hearing aid in each ear and after he had programmed them I experienced a considerable hearing improvement. I then asked him how much these hearing aids were and was told $7,000.
At this stage I removed the hearing aids and departed. We did not talk about discounts and I was not even offered my discount Medicare Rx card.
When I got home my wife was anxious to know how I got on. When I told her what had happened she replied that I really did need to go and see her audiologist and explain to him that I wanted to experiment with only one hearing aid.
Phase 2 - Severe Frustration
Some two days later I received another letter this time from Clinic B highlighting that they were offering a behind the ear hearing aid for $489. Included in the contents was also details about how you can carry out your own hearing test through an on- line web site. This I did and identified that I do have some hearing loss but nothing drastic.
Meanwhile my wife continued to press me to go and see her audiologist(at Clinic A) and talk to him and get his input. So I made an appointment to go and see him. The first thing he did was to carry out yet another hearing test, despite the fact that the results of my original hearing were in my file. Surprise, surprise it showed that a hearing aid would help my hearing but he insisted that I needed two hearing aids. He then gave me a chart showing 4 types of hearing aids ranging from $7,000 to $4,400 per pair all carrying a $500 discount. It was up to me to decide which level I would consider buying, without even explaining or even demonstrating any of the levels. This time I left to 'think about it'. Now I was extremely frustrated.
Phase 3 - Utter Frustration
I then called Clinic B and enquired about their $489 special offer. I was able to find out that it was a 'Rexton Arena basic amplifier'. I decided that I needed to find out what this particular hearing aid would do for me so I visited their office to see if I could try one. I was told that I would have to make an appointment for a hearing test before I could try one out. I told them I had already had 3 hearing tests but they insisted that I couldn't try it without having another one. Now I was utterly frustrated.
Phase 4 - The Solution
So I decided to look at hearing aids in Consumer Reports. Unfortunately there weren't any as the manufacturers had not provided any for evaluation. So I looked further on the Internet. The first thing I found out was that I could get a Reston Arena from Amazon for $320.
Then I came across www.centuryhearingaids.com and there to my amazement was a complete evaluation of their range of hearing aids with a comparison table of hearing aids sold by the Clinics I had already visited. I decided to move ahead and try one which was equivalent in specification to one on the list of Clinic A selling at $2,800(basic model). The hearing aid I chose was the Audition Basic Open Fit selling at $599.
I called Century Hearing Aids and found out that if I had my hearing profile (which I had) they could program it and have it to me the next day. I placed the order there and then and sure enough it arrived the next day.
Phase 5 - Salvation
First of all I can hear clearly most of what is going on around me. Many things now make a noise which I did not hear before, e.g. I now hear the keys on my computer keyboard when I press them, I can clearly hear my car direction indicator warning sound.
I have now had a chance to try it out in a very crowded room and also in a teaching environment and it has performed well above expectations.
A good lesson learned - I could have ended up paying $7,000 for the same results as achieved by spending $599.

I wasn't satisfied with the other hearing aids anyway, and my ears would itch each time I used them for more than a few minutes. Since I listen to audio files all the time for my business, that was an impossible situation for me. I love the small unit that rests outside behind my ear, and it does not interfere with my glasses. The sound I hear now is a very clean, clear sound level, and voices are much clearer as well.

Sounds like they are very clear. Needless to say they are a big improvement...and not nearly as expensive as my previous pair. These are better than ones I paid $5000 for. These are better. I think they are going to work very well. I think I am going to be very happy with them. Why is there such a big markup with audiologist hearing aids? I would recommend that anyone with a hearing loss investigate Century Hearing Aids before paying thru the nose........

I looked over several sites for my Mom. She does not have the two to three thousand that was
quoted by the hearing center who performed her test. Its a sad situation for many seniors. They seem to suffer at the expense of an organized group that lobbies congress very well. The aid we received works great. Mom was rated at a moderate to severe hearing loss and with the new aid it has been remarkable. Great price and service. The same product as others at a substantial savings.

Jon - I am very pleased with my hearing aids and the price of them. This is my first set of hearing aids and I love them. I never knew the blinkers in my car made a sound, my family can no longer talk behind my back! I can hear the dogs toenails clicking on the hardwood floors. I had priced out hearing aids from audiologists and just couldn't afford them. The best thing of all is being able to have a conversation with my granddaughter on the way home from preschool....I rate them 5 stars!

I do like the hearing aids I purchased from you, The price was very, very good to what I would have paid otherwise from the other guys. This is my first ever pair of hearing aids, so I cannot compare them with any other aids, yet they seem to do the job required of them. And actually I hear more than I want to, I.E. The crying kid at the baseball game, or the barking dog three doors down. But I do enjoy the chirping birds in the trees. So yes they do work sometimes to well. My wife still says I have selective hearing, this is true I must admit, she knows I can hear her now. Overall, I believe I made a good decision, and better yet a great decision so far buying them from your company. So "5" stars for Century Hearing Aids.com.

You re-programmed my hearing aid for me, free of charge, even gave me additional batteries...after many tries, the new earpiece you sent is a perfect fit (I need more of that style!) The turn around time was great, your follow through the best! 1 to 5 stars? how about 10 stars!!!! You were beyond friendly, courteous, helpful and sympathic to those suffering with hearing loss. I cannot thank you enough. I will always recommend your company to anyone I know of that needs hearing aids.

Got my hearing aids a few hours ago and my first impression is VERY positive! Read the pamphlet, inserted the batteries, put the devices behind my ear & into the ear canal and presto I hear really well. Still experimenting with ear bud size and the button memory switch. If I have any questions in the next few days I'll call. Thanks Jon, these seem just what my hearing and my budget needed.

Listen, the hearing aids, the adjustment is right on the money man. I simply. no more feedback. And I hear. it is incredible, I could hear everything. walked out yesterday I had to put them on, I heard birds chirping like I never heard before. This is great John. Your service has been exceptional and I know I have gotten a very good investment..Matter of fact, I emailed you just before I made the purchased that I came to realize a friend of mine was wearing behind the ear aid,s and I never noticed in the 10 years he's had them. When I received mine he wanted to compare them. His were identical
in every minute detail to mine. He got his through the VA and his audiologist told him they would have cost him $8,000. When I told him I paid $850 his jaw dropped.
I am extremely happy with my investment and will gladly refer anyone to you who I know has a hearing problem.

Just to let you know I believe I've made it through the "getting used to stage" and am impressed. Oddly it seems more obvious to others I'm speaking with that hearing has been improved. I do realize I don't ask people to repeat what they've said as often. I'm very glad to know what the beeps represent. I thought I had read the manual in it's entirety and don't remember it being explained. Also much more comfortable than I expected them to be. Don't even know they are there.

My first hearing aid cost $2,000, was an ear canal type and programmable. First I could not say my hearing improved, and I could never keep it in the canal when eating or talking, resulting in not wearing it. That was 10 years ago. With this aid, I hear better, though not as good as mother nature made. It is comfortable and with the color similar to my glasses, almost unnoticed. I would recommend them as a very good value to any one.

This is my first pair of hearing aids. I can't believe what I have been missing! I can finally hear my 6 year old talk to me clearly; hear birds chirping outside; and hear traffic as it passes by. Thank you for having affordable hearing aids!! I wasn't able to afford any of the others and was worried about missing out on life.

This hearing aid has the same features as instruments costing three times as this one. i was completely happy with these aids except for their small size. I COULD NOT CHANGE THE BATTERY DUE TO MYOLD STIFF FINGERS.

After testing the Audition Pro out through multiple hearing situations, I am quite pleased with it. The only down side is that I can't tell which mode it is in or hear the tone that tells me the battery is going dead. But I have been able to hear things that I haven't been able to hear before, such as whispers in that ear and was even able to hear what was being said in a movie theater. So I am very happy with it.

I received my hearing aids (after the episode with the customs) and am delighted to say they are working out really well. I am trying to get used to both of them but find I take the right one out after a few hours as I can hear too well.........

He has been amazed at what he hasn't been hearing. It is a joy to me that he can hear so much better. Daddy heard the chair creaking that he sits in every day at the dining table and wondered what the noise was. It's so great to see him smile. Only problem now is he can hear every word Mom is saying. I just tested the aids with the audio file I told you about that I had such a hard time with background noise. OMG, it was a normal sound file with no background noise at all!!! I can't believe what a good thing I have done for myself!!! This is one of the biggest issues with my working now besides body pain. Happy birthday to me. I will be 65 this Friday.
